  • Stackable modules up to 48kWh usable on a single tower
  • AI-driven energy management through the mySigen app
  • 10-year warranty guaranteeing at least 70% of usable capacity

What Is the Sigenergy SigenStor?

The SigenStor is a genuinely different take on home battery storage. Where most systems pair a separate inverter with a separate battery, the SigenStor is a single stackable tower that combines five things in one: a hybrid solar inverter, battery power electronics, the battery modules themselves, an AI-driven energy management system, and — optionally — a 25kW DC EV fast charger. No other mainstream home battery integrates DC EV charging into the same unit.

The head unit, the Sigen Energy Controller, is a DC-coupled hybrid inverter available in single-phase versions from 3 to 12kW and three-phase up to 30kW, with up to 4 MPPTs on larger models. Beneath it, battery modules simply click together — one to six per tower, from around 5kWh to over 48kWh usable, with parallel towers possible where more is needed. That modularity matters in practice: you can start with the capacity you need today and add modules later without touching the inverter. The unit is IP66-rated for outdoor installation and operates down to -20°C, so a garage, utility room or external wall all work.

Being straight about the brand: Sigenergy was founded in 2022 and launched into the UK at Solar & Storage Live in October 2023, so its UK track record is shorter than some longer-established names. But it has scaled fast on merit — a reported 28.6% share of the global stackable all-in-one storage segment in 2024 (per SunWiz), second place in the UK 2025 Installers' Choice Awards, a registered UK entity, and stock held by major national wholesalers including Segen and Midsummer. The equipment is G98/G99-compliant for connection to the grid, and every install we carry out is notified to Northern Powergrid as standard.

SigenStor Modules & Specs

Current-generation modules as stocked by UK wholesalers. We always quote usable capacity, not nominal.

Typical fit Smaller homes, light evening use Family homes EV owners, heat pumps, larger homes

Two honest notes on the numbers: the "10kWh" module is nominal — its real usable figure is 8.76kWh, which is the number we quote. And the 10,000-cycle figure is a cell rating, not the warranty; the warranty itself is 10 years with a 70% usable-capacity guarantee, capped by a minimum energy throughput per module.

How SigenStor Pairs with Solar and EV Charging

For a new solar panel installation, the SigenStor is about as tidy as it gets: panels wire straight into the Energy Controller's MPPTs, so there is no separate inverter on the wall and one warranty covers both inverter and battery. Peak inverter conversion efficiency is up to 98% — though realistic round-trip efficiency for stored energy is around 93–95%, as with any battery system.

Already have panels? The SigenStor can AC-couple to an existing array, leaving your current inverter in place — a clean retrofit route. Either way, the mySigen app runs the show: it learns your usage, integrates with UK smart tariffs including Octopus Intelligent Octopus Flux, and automates cheap-rate charging and peak-rate export without you having to think about it.

The headline option is the 25kW DC EV charging module, which slots into the same tower and charges an EV several times faster than a standard 7kW wallbox — drawing on the battery and solar as well as the grid. The hardware is V2H/V2G-capable, though we are honest that vehicle-to-grid in the UK still depends on a compatible car, DNO approval and tariff support. If a conventional wallbox suits you better, our EV charger installation service covers that too. And for seamless whole-home backup in a power cut — 0ms switchover, with 200% surge output for 10 seconds — you will need the separate Sigen Energy Gateway, which we price as a clear line item rather than burying it.

SigenStor in South Yorkshire: The Local Picture

The network operator across Doncaster and South Yorkshire is Northern Powergrid, and every battery installation must be registered with them — smaller systems are notified under G98 after installation, while higher-output setups (which includes many SigenStor configurations, given the Energy Controller's power ratings) need G99 approval before energisation. We submit and manage those applications as standard, so there is nothing for you to chase.

We are based in Armthorpe (DN3), which keeps surveys and aftercare genuinely local across the borough — from 1930s semis in Wheatley and Bennetthorpe to ex-colliery villages like Rossington and Hatfield, and the new-build estates around Lakeside and Finningley. The SigenStor's compact tower footprint and IP66 outdoor rating suit that housing mix: a garage wall, a utility room, or an external wall where indoor space is tight. And because capacity grows by clicking in modules, it suits households planning ahead — an EV next year, a heat pump after that.

We install SigenStor across the region — see our local pages for Doncaster, Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley.

Why Choose AMP Pro for Your Sigenergy Install?

A modular DC-coupled system with optional DC EV charging is a proper electrical installation, not a plug-and-play gadget — and that is where an electrician-led firm earns its keep. AMP Pro's installers are NICEIC and NAPIT-registered electricians, so the wiring, protection and certification behind your battery are done properly and to BS 7671, not subcontracted to whoever is available. We design the system around your actual usage, handle the Northern Powergrid paperwork, commission the mySigen app before we leave, and quote in writing with no hidden extras. And because we install several battery brands rather than one, you get an honest steer on whether SigenStor is the right fit — or whether a Tesla Powerwall 3, Fox ESS or EcoFlow system would serve you better for the money.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

As a guide for 2026: a battery-only retrofit of around 5–10kWh usable typically comes in at roughly £4,500–£7,000, and 10–20kWh at roughly £5,500–£9,500, both at 0% VAT (a rate that runs until 31 March 2027). Around 18kWh with the whole-home backup Gateway starts from about £9,600. These are honest ranges, not fixed prices — the final figure depends on your property and module count, which is why we quote after a free survey.

The system stacks in modules — the current BAT 6.0 gives 5.84kWh usable and the BAT 10.0 gives 8.76kWh usable — and most UK homes run one to three modules, around 6–26kWh usable. A couple with modest evening use might start with a single module; a family home with an EV or heat pump often suits two or three. Because modules click together, you can start smaller and add capacity later without replacing the inverter.

Battery modules and the Energy Controller carry a 10-year warranty guaranteeing at least 70% of usable capacity, capped by a minimum energy throughput per module — whichever comes first. The LFP cells are manufacturer-rated for up to 10,000 cycles, but that is a cell rating, not the warranty term. One honest flag: some UK documentation cites a shorter warranty (around 3 years) on the optional DC EV charging module, so we confirm current terms for that module before you order.

No — that is one of its biggest advantages. The Sigen Energy Controller head unit is itself a hybrid inverter (single-phase 3–12kW, three-phase up to 30kW, with up to 4 MPPTs on larger models), so the stack combines solar inverter, battery power electronics, storage modules and energy management in one unit. It can also AC-couple to an existing solar array, so it works as a retrofit if you already have panels with their own inverter.

It can, with one honest caveat: seamless whole-home backup with 0ms switchover needs the separate Sigen Energy Gateway, which is an extra-cost item rather than standard with the base stack. With the Gateway fitted, the system takes over instantly in an outage and can deliver 200% surge output for 10 seconds to handle motor start-ups. Without it, you should not expect whole-home backup. We price the Gateway option clearly in every quote.

Yes. The mySigen app and built-in energy management integrate with UK smart tariffs, including Octopus tariffs such as Intelligent Octopus Flux, automating cheap-rate charging and higher-rate export around your usage. Through winter, when solar output is low, the battery can charge overnight on cheap rates and discharge through the expensive peak — so it earns its keep year-round, not just in summer.

It is a newer name and we say so plainly: Sigenergy was founded in 2022 and entered the UK market in late 2023, so its UK track record is shorter than longer-established brands. Against that, it has scaled remarkably — a reported 28.6% share of the global stackable all-in-one storage segment in 2024 (per SunWiz), second place in the UK 2025 Installers' Choice Awards, and stock at major national wholesalers including Segen and Midsummer. The 10-year warranty and LFP chemistry are competitive with any mainstream rival.

Optionally, yes — and this is unique among mainstream home batteries. A 25kW DC EV charging module can be added to the stack (typically £3,500–£4,000 extra installed), charging several times faster than a standard 7kW wallbox. The hardware is bidirectional (V2H/V2G-capable), though vehicle-to-grid in practice still depends on a compatible EV, DNO approval and tariff support, which remain early-stage in the UK.
