Why 0% VAT matters

Under current UK rules, residential solar panel installations are zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027 — meaning you pay no VAT on the system at all. After that date, the rate is currently set to return to 5%, which is still low but adds cost. On a typical £6,000 install, the 0% rate is saving you a meaningful chunk versus standard 20% VAT.

How much electricity will panels generate in South Yorkshire?

Payback: the honest timescale

Should you add a battery?
